A gentle beginning to a wonderful year of learning, friendship and discovery.
At Rockhampton South Kindergarten, we understand that starting Kindy is a big milestone for children and their families.
Every child is unique, and we believe that a positive, supported transition helps children develop confidence, build relationships and feel a sense of belonging in their new environment.
We have thoughtfully planned a range of opportunities to help children and families feel welcomed, comfortable and connected before their kindergarten journey begins.
Meet & Greet Sessions
Before the kindergarten year begins, we invite families to attend our Meet & Greet sessions.
These visits provide a wonderful opportunity for children to explore their new learning environment, meet their teachers and educators, become familiar with the playground and begin building friendships.
Families can ask questions, share information about their child and start developing relationships with our kindergarten team.
Parent Information Night
Our Parent Information Night provides families with an opportunity to learn more about our kindergarten program, daily routines, expectations and the exciting year ahead.
It is also a chance to meet our educators, ask questions and connect with other families.
Staggered Starts – A Gentle Beginning
We recognise that the first day of kindergarten can bring a mixture of excitement and nerves for both children and families.
To support a calm and positive transition, we offer staggered starts at the beginning of the kindergarten year.
Children are divided into smaller groups, with each group attending on different days.
This allows our teachers and educators to spend more individual time with each child, helping them become familiar with their surroundings, establish relationships and settle into their new environment without feeling overwhelmed.
Our staggered start approach supports children in developing confidence, independence and a sense of security as they begin their kindergarten journey.
